Beatbot AquaSense Pro Review: A Smart Pool Cleaning Robot for Routine Maintenance

The Beatbot AquaSense Pro is a 5-in-1 intelligent pool cleaning robot designed for regular maintenance. We tested it across realistic and extreme scenarios to see what it can and cannot handle.

Introduction

The Beatbot AquaSense Pro is marketed as the world’s first 5-in-1 intelligent pool cleaning robot, capable of handling floor, wall, waterline, and surface cleaning, plus optional water clarification. We put it through both realistic maintenance scenarios and extreme stress tests to understand what it actually delivers.

What Comes in the Box

The AquaSense Pro arrives with a comprehensive package. You get the robot itself, a charging dock for your garage or pool house, a retrieval hook for emergencies, a quick start guide, and user manual with IP68 water resistance certification. The robot features 20 onboard sensors and includes a dual-layer debris basket for collecting surface and floor debris. There are two debris collection slots: one for skimming the surface and another that both vacuums the bottom and helps the robot cling to pool walls while its brushes work.

The package also includes optional water clarification cartridges, though these are not required for basic operation. Physical control buttons on the front let you select floor cleaning, floor and walls, complete clean, or eco mode without needing the app.

Design and Key Features

The AquaSense Pro uses a compact, rounded design with multiple brush attachments and collection mechanisms. The robot is powered by a quad-core ARM CPU and features nine motors to drive its cleaning functions. It employs different cleaning patterns depending on the task: an S pattern for the floor, an N pattern for walls and waterline, and an S pattern for surface cleaning.

Navigation relies on what Beatbot calls “sonic sense sensors” and “intelligent path optimization.” The robot claims to offer nine and a half hours of battery life, though real-world performance varies depending on the cleaning mode and pool size. The charging dock provides enough power for two to three complete cleaning runs before needing a recharge.

Testing in a Realistic Pool

We tested the AquaSense Pro in a well-maintained residential pool after adding some debris to simulate typical weekly maintenance conditions. Using the mobile app, we selected a full cleaning cycle covering floor, walls, waterline, and surface. The app provides real-time status updates and reconnects to the robot when it surfaces.

During this realistic test, the robot successfully picked up leaves and debris, and the app clearly communicated when the basket needed emptying. The robot completed approximately two hours of cleaning before the battery dropped to 30 percent. The app provided a cleaning report showing time spent on each area and any interruptions due to a full basket. The robot returned to the surface and signaled for basket cleaning multiple times, demonstrating that it does monitor collection capacity.

Real-World Performance and Limitations

The AquaSense Pro is explicitly designed as a maintenance robot for pools that are already in reasonable condition. It is not intended to handle severely neglected pools or extreme debris loads. In our extreme test with a heavily contaminated pool full of leaves, sediment, and organic matter, the robot’s basket clogged within minutes and it struggled to move effectively.

The robot also showed difficulty with pool stairs, getting hung up on the transitions. Beatbot mentioned a multi-zone mode in testing that should improve stair handling, but it was not available during our evaluation. Water clarity affects performance: when sediment clouds the water, the robot cannot use visual navigation, and RF communication is blocked underwater, so the app cannot remotely summon the robot if it becomes lost.

Battery life claims of nine and a half hours did not match our real-world experience. In typical cleaning cycles, we saw the robot deplete its battery well before completing all selected cleaning zones. Firmware updates and app improvements may address some of these gaps as the product gains exposure in North American markets.

Conclusion

The Beatbot AquaSense Pro is a capable maintenance tool for pools that receive regular upkeep. It excels at picking up routine debris and can handle multiple cleaning zones in a single session. However, it is not a solution for severely neglected pools or extreme debris scenarios. If your pool is already in decent condition and you want to automate weekly or bi-weekly cleaning, the AquaSense Pro offers genuine convenience. For pools requiring heavy restoration or those with significant structural challenges like stairs, you will still need professional help.
