Introduction

The Cleytro ES7 is an electric bike that promises freedom of movement without restrictions. With a powerful 750W motor, a large 48V battery promising 90+ km range, and distinctive 26-inch fat tires, it aims to deliver stable, capable riding across diverse terrain. But does it live up to its ambitious claims?

Design and Build Quality

The ES7 arrives well-protected in a sturdy box with most of the frame already assembled. Assembly is straightforward, requiring only installation of the front fender, front wheel, handlebars, pedals, and basic adjustments. The charger, instructions, and handlebar mount are included.

At first glance, the ES7 commands attention. The massive 26x4.0 fat tires immediately dominate the visual profile, combined with the white frame and black rugged lines creating an appearance somewhere between a classic bike and a compact SUV. The bike feels wide, stable, and confident when standing still, with no sense of fragility.

At over 30 kg, the ES7 is not light, but this mass actually contributes to stability during riding. The aluminum alloy frame feels solid and compact, connected into a single cohesive unit that inspires confidence. The bike carries a 250 kg maximum load capacity, which is genuinely impressive for this class.

The sitting position is relatively upright and comfortable, relieving pressure on the back and shoulders during longer rides without forcing the aggressive forward lean of sports models.

Motor and Power Delivery

The heart of the ES7 is a 750W brushless motor mounted in the rear wheel, developing around 80 Nm of torque depending on load and riding conditions. Power delivery is linear and controlled rather than sudden or aggressive. From a standstill, acceleration is constant and smooth, bringing you up to speed quickly without jerks.

The motor is legally limited to 25 km/h for the EU market, but it clearly has reserves. Removing the limiter allows speeds up to 55 km/h, which is genuinely refreshing for this category.

On flat terrain, the ride is smooth and nearly silent, with only a subtle engine hum that fades during riding. The bike maintains speed effortlessly on longer sections without any sense of strain. On hills, the motor’s true potential emerges. Thanks to high torque, the bike does not choke or slow down suddenly, providing enough power to overtake serious slopes with proper gear selection. The overall feeling is one of control, with stable and reliable power delivery and no sudden surprises.

Transmission and Riding Modes

The ES7 uses a Shimano 7-speed transmission, a proven and reliable system for everyday use. While not high-end MTB equipment, it does exactly what it should, allowing adaptation to different terrains without complications. Gear changes are mechanical but precise when properly tuned, with smooth transitions between gears and no skipping.

The bike offers three riding modes. Pedal assist mode provides the most natural feeling, with the motor assisting proportionally to your pedal strokes, creating the impression that you are simply stronger than usual. This is the mode you will use most often in city or open road riding. Classic mode allows riding without assistance, useful for saving battery or enjoying a purely mechanical experience. Cruise function maintains constant speed without constantly pressing the pedals, ideal for flat, long sections.

Display and Controls

A colorful 4.8-inch LCD HD display sits in the middle of the handlebars, delivering key information including speed, assistance level (up to five levels), battery status, and total mileage. The screen is large enough and readable even in bright sunlight, which matters for real-world riding. Handlebar controls are simple, with buttons for power, increasing and decreasing assistance, and basic functions. Everything becomes intuitive after a few minutes of use.

Battery and Range

The 48V battery with approximately 18Ah capacity delivers around 864Wh of energy, a serious figure in this class. The manufacturer claims up to 90+ kilometres in optimal conditions with pedal assist at moderate speed on flat terrain. In real-world conditions combining city hills and occasional throttle use, expect 60 to 70 km, which is a very good value for a bike of this power and weight.

The battery is removable, a major advantage for everyday use. You can remove it and charge it separately in your apartment or office without moving the entire bike. Charging takes 6 to 8 hours with the standard charger, making overnight charging practical. The battery integrates stably into the frame without wobbling or vibrating during riding, further reinforcing a sense of quality.

Braking System

The ES7 comes equipped with front and rear hydraulic disc brakes providing sufficient, strong, and stable stopping power. Braking is progressive with no sudden wheel lock or unpredictable reactions. The levers have a good feel under your fingers, giving precise feedback on applied force. In the city, this means safe, controlled stopping. On downhills, it provides control without feeling like you will lose stability. For this class and weight, this braking system is essential and very well implemented.

Tires and Suspension

The 26x4.0 fat tires are far more than an aesthetic detail. Their width allows much greater ground contact, resulting in better grip and stability on asphalt. The real difference emerges off-road. On gravel, sand, dirt, or poor asphalt, the tires absorb the terrain, allowing the bike to roll over obstacles much softer and more controlled than narrow tires would.

A hydraulic suspension fork in front and central rear suspension effectively absorb shocks and vibrations, providing comfortable riding even on rough terrain, bad asphalt, small gravel, or forest paths. While not designed for extreme downhill descents, for everyday bumps and mixed terrain, the suspension noticeably increases comfort and stability.

The large, wide seat is clearly designed for longer rides, not just short city trips. Beyond width and soft padding, an opening in the middle creates a ventilation effect, allowing longer rides without the discomfort that narrow, hard seats often cause. Combined with the suspension and fat tires, this further enhances overall comfort.

Lighting

The lighting system is clearly a serious part of safety rather than a mere accessory. The front light is large, centrally placed, and provides a strong white beam illuminating the road ahead. This is not a symbolic light but a concrete solution that makes sense when riding in darkness or poor visibility.

The rear light is a LED unit with a braking function. When you press the brake, it automatically boosts and clearly signals to vehicles behind that you are slowing down. This provides an additional safety layer, especially in city riding and at night. The system is simple but effective: you see, and you are seen.

Overall Impression

After many kilometres of riding through various conditions from everyday city life to gravel roads and light off-road terrain, the Cleytro ES7 leaves a clear and concrete impression. This is not a bike trying to be everything to everyone. It knows exactly what it wants to be: powerful, stable, and ready for terrain.

The greatest value does not lie in any single element. It is not just the 750W motor, though it is certainly felt. It is not just the large battery enabling long rides. It is not even the distinctive appearance, though it is hard to ignore. The real value is the combination of all these elements working together.

The ES7 is built for people who want more than just a city ride. If the idea of getting on a bike and not thinking about where you can and cannot go, but simply going, appeals to you, this is a model worth serious consideration. The bike is fun, powerful, stable, and genuinely different from most offerings in its category.
